The grand opening of the Nordstrom department store opening in Nashville was a highly anticipated event. It would be a dream assignment for the Nashville caterer selected by Nordstrom to prepare and execute that portion of the event.
After a rigorous selection process conducted by the Nordstrom marketing team which included several rounds of proposals and interviews, it was an honor to have been chosen to cater their opening Gala. Nordstrom partnered with three local non-profits, sold tickets, and all proceeds were divided between the charities.
On the eve of the store grand opening, Nordstrom opened its doors to 2000 guests. All three floors featured bars, passed specialty cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and dinner and dessert buffets customized with menus carefully designed for each floor. No detail was overlooked in Nordstrom’s specifications, down to custom tables, bars and passing trays made just for that night.
The KW team spent months planning, finalizing menus, hand selecting serving pieces, plates, glassware, interviewing staff and exploring every inch of possible work space within the walls of the department store. Storerooms became kitchens, stairwells were running tracks for desserts and each floor was operated independently with a manager and team of staff.
When the doors opened, guests were greeted with Champagne, Vodka-spiked Lavender Lemonade, edible cocktails and a gorgeous assembly of tray passed items. One of the most popular items was a pairing of Candied Bacon with sips of Reserve Bourbon that were passed in the Men’s Department.
The dinner buffets featured Beef Tenderloin with Capers and Herb Oil, Shrimp and Grits, Lamb Chops, Lobster Rolls, Local Made Pasta, Salad Caprese and much more. On a glass tiered display, in front of Chanel and Gucci, we presented Chocolate Symphony Cakes with Edible Gold and Petite Cakes with handcrafted sugar flowers, from Dulce Desserts.
The night was a huge success. Our thanks to Nordstrom for their confidence in selecting us to be part of one of Nashville’s premier events!
